Through TAFE NSW, Queen Street Studio is offering up to $3,000 in funding for eligible creative projects with and for young people between the ages of 12 and 24!
ArtStart NSW—funded by the TAFE NSW Social Inclusion and Vocational Skills Unit—is a dynamic art program designed for young people aged 12 to 24 in New South Wales. The program exists to build skills, resilience and networks by engaging young people in creative projects and process.
In 2011 Queen Street Studio has been successful in securing funds to support creative projects for young people aged 12-24 years for the Central Metropolitan region in NSW, in a range of arts and cultural activities for inclusion in the ArtStart 2011 Festival in September.
For the 2011 ArtStart program, Queen Street Studio invites expressions of interest from individual artists, groups, organisations and facilitators to develop art projects within their local communities for and with young people. To support existing and new youth initiatives that further enrich the cultural activities in this unique area of Sydney.
The aim of the small grants program is to develop, respond, engage and invest in the creative development needs and initiatives of the young people in the Metropolitan Central Region of NSW. The emphasis will be on encouraging process, skills development, creative inquiry, support for innovation and vocational training and professional mentorship that are relevant and appropriate to the aspiration of the groups, individuals or organisations that apply.
The Metropolitan Central region is identified within the local government areas of Marrickville, Leichhardt, Ashfield, Burwood, Canterbury, Strathfield and Canada Bay.
Projects may include but are not limited to:
- Writing for film and TV
- Multimedia
- Drama
- Dance
- Physical theatre
- Visual arts
- Performance art
- Circus
- Design
- Production
- Community cultural development
- Culturally specific projects
- Workshops
- Festival events or performances
- Music
Projects will need to be able contribute to an online presentation during the two-week state-wide ArtStart Festival in September 2011.
