and Skills Program
Round two applications are closed.
Queen Street Studio and Tafe NSW have distributed a total of $22,000 in ArtStart grant money to eight organisations working with young people aged 12-24 years old.
The various arts programs, which range from street art to health-focused arts programs are based within the Central Metropolitan Region in Sydney, which includes Marrickville, Leichhardt, Ashfield, Burwood, Canterbury, Strathfield and Canada Bay.

Rosemount Good Shepherd Youth & Family Services |
A community Photo Voice project called “Impressions”, designed to highlight and celebrate the views and voices of young people through the creative medium of photography. The participants will benefit from the project by learning and developing skills in photography and editing and participating in various workshops and a final exhibition. |
Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre |
Acclaimed physical theatre company Legs On The Wall are joining forces with Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre’s Ever After ensemble to run “Game Plan”, a project which will enable young people with a disability to access skills development workshops and explore new approaches to their artform. ArtStart funds will pay for a multi-media artist to collaborate on the project. |
Babushka Youth Arts Inc |
Babushka Youth Arts Inc are teaming up with Camperdown Youth Health Service to creatively and artistically engage marginalised young people in Sydney’s Inner West through a series of workshops across drama, physical theatre and visual arts to address sexual health and ethics. |
Stretch A Family Inc |
Stretch A Family Inc is an organisation providing live-in out-of-home care for youth waiting for foster care. They have received funds to employ a graffiti artist to help design and create a graffiti wall on their garage door in Stanmore. |
| Ashfield Youth Theatre | Ashfield Youth Theatre (AYT) is teaming up with leading new-media and arts organisation CuriousWorks to deliver a series of 8 intensive and hands-on workshops in film and new-media making, to a team of young people from Sydney's inner west. |
| MissonaryART | A mosaic art project with young people from the Ashfield area that will be presented as a permanent public fixture in footpaths and walls in the municipality of Ashfield. |
| PACT Centre for Emerging Artists | Vacant Room: an emerging artist program that offers interdisciplinary emerging artists the opportunity to develop a new idea or project with the artistic support and mentorship of the company and guest artists. |
| Twenty 10 | A series of 4 x DIY Music Video Workshops where participants will learn the skills and process of pre production, production, editing and the sound component to create music videos. Along with this, the young people will create a "workshop video" to document the process, and share the skills they learned while making these music videos. |
