Chippendale Creative Network
Queen Street Studio in partnership with UTS shopfront have completed research and produced a scoping study into the viability of a network of artists, cultural producers, arts and related organisations living and working in Chippendale who come together to collaborate and create activities for local participation. The first Chippendale Creative network drinks was held on the 13th July 2007. This project was made possible through the City of Sydney.
For more information about the network call Sam 0400 098 988 or information about the findings email Kirsty Glen: Kirsty.A.Glen@student.uts.edu.au
We have created a Chippendale Creative Network MAP with listing of Creative businesses.

“LAST OF THE KNUCKLEMEN” by John Powers
Director: James Winter
Design: Tobhiyah Feller
Sound: Sofie Loizou
Lighting design: Verity Hampson
Featuring: Ian Roberts, Steve Hayden, Andrew Crabbe, Roger Smith, David Terry, Blair Cutting, Raoul Agapis, Ben Maclaine and Aaron Scully
LAST OF THE KNUCKLEMEN takes place in an ore-drilling outfit where the men are as rough as the conditions they are forced to exist. Within in sweltering heat of an arid North-Western landscape, eight hardened labourers combat their after-hours boredom with games that test their loyalty . . . negotiating their status through rituals that affirm their masculinity, identity and self respect.

“SPEAKING IN TONGUES”
Director: Sam Chester
Cast: Jessica Manuel, Maria Pavela, James Winter
“As a child I had a sing-song bird that charmed me so – so that grief sat at my fingertips. The day the sing-song bird left, I gathered my grief . . . and flew from the highest tree top.”
Speaking in Tongues is a work which explores humanity’s attempt to communicate with each other – its failure, its success, its love, its loneliness. The work is a confessional box – a peep-show of our greatest fears, our greatest depth.
