In addition to having regular solo exhibitions and contributing to group exhibitions, Gav Barbey has worked in film, theatre and as a commercial artist.
Recently he has added teaching to his repertoire taking classes in drawing, film and theatre at the Art Gallery of NSW and NIDA.
In 1999 Gav won the Best Cinematography award at the St. Kilda Film Festival and in 2003 was awarded the Centenary of Federation Medal for services to the arts.
Gav’s art is installed in public collections around Australia and in private collections in Hong Kong, the United States and England.
