My Khmer Heart was the story of a 56-year-old former Australian nurse – Geraldine Cox – and her 53 “children”, living under her care in an orphanage outside Phnom Penh – Sunrise Children’s Village. Unable to have children of her own, Ms Cox eventually became a mother to hundreds of orphans caught up in three decades of war . . . and one of the worst cases of genocide in human history — Pol Pot’s Killing Fields.
In 2001, Kylie photographed the images of “Cambodian Heart”. She made several trips to Cambodia in 2001 to document the year of moving to Sunrise Children’s Village.
The launch was held at Gallery Xposure, 207 Darling St, Balmain.
