Born: 1960, Brisbane, Australia

Susan lives in Sydney and began painting in 1990. She has a self-declared obsession with painting and, in recent years, has chosen to concentrate on abstract compositions. She paints for the love of it with a combination of spontaneity and discipline. Her abstract work is continually evolving and impresses with its colour, balance and texture.

In her recent works, layer upon layer of paint is applied so that shape, movement, form, depth, colour and perspective emerge organically. Susan's immersion in her chosen medium is reflected in the almost intimate feel that each work projects. Her abstracts are not distant and remote but close, personal and involving.

Rosalie Gascoigne summed up my approach to art when she said it was all about keeping your hands busy.
