Born: 1972

Stephanie Wilson has been involved in life drawing for a number of years and is particularly interested in exploring different ways of capturing human movement on the page. As Butoh and other contemporary dance forms have provided inspiration for her work in the past, she is delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate with other performing artists in preparation for this exhibition.

Stephanie has previously exhibited her work in two local exhibitions at Alpha House in Newtown, Sydney. A brief stint in physical theatre in 1999 and 2000 further cemented her interest in the relationship between the visual and performing arts.

Stephanie has a background in music performance and composition and her interest in music led to a PhD in the field of music perception in 1999. The study focussed on pattern perception and temporality in the music of Steve Reich and other American minimalist composers. Stephanie has also worked as a lecturer in both music and higher education at the University of New South Wales.
