SYDNEY’S INDEPENDENT ARTS SECTOR
– HELP US GIVE THE GIFT OF SPACE.

Queen Street Studio SPACE FUND

We need your help.

Thanks to the City of Sydney External Website Link, Queen Street Studio has finalised the lease on Heffron Hall, a beautiful space on the corner of Palmer and Burton Streets in Darlinghurst (Map External Website Link) that will shortly become another subsidised rehearsal space for Sydney’s independent performing arts community managed by Queen Street Studio.

To make the space extra-special we need $20,000 to buy a new multi-purpose sprung floor. We already have $10,000 saved up so now we need to raise the rest – $10,000. We know it sounds like a lot but if we can get 100 people to donate $100 or 200 people to donate $50 or 300 people to donate $35 we will reach our goal. The best thing is we have DGR status which means all money donated is tax-deductible!

We know how precious space is for artists in Sydney and Queen Street Studio has done its very best for the last 5 years to provide spaces that are accessible, affordable and even FREE.

So please help us in our mission to keep providing “the potential of space” to the independent arts community in Sydney by donating to our new floor.

What we have achieved so far . . .

Queen Street Studio is a non-profit organisation and registered charity servicing Sydney’s arts community. Beginning with a small but beautiful studio facility in Queen Street, Chippendale in 2005, the organisation has grown and now manages a multi-disciplinary arts space in previously vacant buildings on the site of the old Carlton United Brewery – donated by Frasers Property – for two years. We will also shortly take over the management of Heffron Hall in Darlinghurst till 2013.

Through our studio spaces we provide subsidised hire and free space through residency programs to performing and visual artists, as well as skills and professional development workshops and peer-to-peer training programs.

We have been nominated in the Sydney Business Awards for the past three years, have strong partnerships with the City of Sydney, Frasers Property Australia, are funded by Arts NSW, City of Sydney, have relationships with Ausdance, UTS, Critical Path, The Performance Space as well as a number of corporate supporters and stakeholders.

Our Community

Sydney is teaming with independent artists. They create theatre, dance, exhibitions, public art, publications and much more. They work in their kitchens, in their sheds, in cafes and whatever space they can find and afford.

Since opening our doors in 2005 we have provided affordable rehearsal space to approx 25,000 artists, including: Chunky Move, Griffin Theatre Company, Ausdance NSW, Australia Council for the Arts, Legs on The Wall, Company B, Wendy Houston, The Fondue Set, Big hART, Sue Healey and Company, de Quincey and Co, Stalker and many more . . .
