WHAT’S ON (QSS PROGRAMS)

Queen Street Studio offers a range of professional development opportunities for Sydney’s independent performing arts community. All the programs are non-profit, artist run initiatives that are curated by Queen Street Studio. Fees collected go directly into paying the guest artist, hire of the studio and administrative and marketing costs associated with producing the program.
TOOLKIT
An intensive skills development workshop program that is lead by some of Sydney’s most inspired and experienced performing artists. A peer-to-peer environment which encourages participants to try out new ideas, developing new approaches and learn first-hand how other practitioners develop new work. The program runs throughout the year in one-month blocks on Wednesday evenings from 6–9pm.

DANCE SPACE RESIDENCY PROGRAM
AUSDANCE NSW in association with Queen Street Studio has been funded by the City of Sydney for a Dance Space Residency in 2008. This program will give free rehearsal space at Queen Street Studio to successful dance artists and collectives who apply for a 2008 residency through AUSDANCENSW

BOOTCAMP INTENSIVE (pending)
A 3 week intensive workshop program for artists building skill, discipline and stamina into their performance technique. Involving a collection of the finest and most popular Toolkit programs, participants experience an intense training environment that works the body, mind and imagination. The program spans a diversity of skills including yoga, movement, voice, text, character, improvisation and viewpoints.

OFF THE SHELF (pending)
A bi–monthly program where emerging and established playwrights and directors get a chance to show work in development. Queen Street Studio will provide up to 5 artists - 50 hours (10 hours each) of free space to work on their scripts with a showing at the conclusion of the 2 months. “Off the Shelf” is a perfect first step for ideas before they are presented to producing bodies, allowing for the opportunity for productions to be developed into stronger pitches to producers and presenters.

BACK IN (THE) BLACK (pending)
An independent sector focussed program that delivers tangible skills and contacts to independent producers/companies. Content will focus on developing profile, managing business sustainability, touring, negotiating contracts/partnerships with producers and presenters, best practise and process. An intensive and intimate program that gives independent producers/companies the confidence to take their work and participate in a national context.
